Scorecard

Queensland Reds finished the Super Rugby AU league stage on a high as they defeated Brumbies 26-7 at Suncorp Stadium on Saturday.

This is fifth win for Brumbies in eight games as they finished second in the table while Brumbies despite the defeat have booked a berth in the final. Reds will now face Rebels in the play-off on 12th September with the winner locking horns with Brumbies in the finals on 19th September.

Reds started the proceedings early when Jock Campbell offloaded to Liam Wright for the opening try in the sixth minute. James O'Connor missed the conversion but kicked back to back penalties in the 18th and 31st minutes to take them to a 11-0 lead.

Campbell was once again instrumental as he set up Chris Feauai-Sautia over the line in the 36th minute and O'Connor improved it taking their lead to 18 points. At the stroke of half-time, Brumbies finally managed to get off the mark with a try from Pete Samu as they reduced the deficit to 11 points.

As Brumbies failed to add any more points in the second half, O'Connor kicked a 66th minute penalty goal and Tate McDermott touched down in the 76th minute to complete a 19-point victory.
