The European Rugby Champions Cup game between Racing 92 and Glasgow Warriors has been postponed - as have the other European matches in France this weekend - in the wake of the overnight attacks in Paris which left more than 100 people dead.

A series of locations - including near the Stade de France - were attacked in the French capital, where Glasgow had travelled ahead of the match, scheduled to take place later today (14th November).

In brief - a night of unprecedented horror in Paris

  • Three explosions - thought to be suicide bombs - close to the Stade de France during the France-Germany football match
  • Shooting at a Cambodian restaurant, an Italian restaurant and in other Paris streets
  • Hostages held and killed at Bataclan theatre following a rock concert
  • State of emergency declared - the first nationwide in France since the Second World War
  • Eight perpetrators neutralised - seven detonating suicide vests and one killed by police - in the early hours

Which French teams are playing today/tomorrow?

  • Oyonnax v Ulster - postponed
  • Worcester v La Rochelle - game goes ahead
  • London Irish v Agen - game goes ahead
  • Racing 92 v Glasgow - postponed
  • Saracens v Toulouse - game goes ahead
  • Pau v Castres - postponed
  • Bordeaux-Begles v Clermont Auvergne - postponed
  • Toulon v Bath - postponed

Both teams confirmed this morning that the game, at Racing 92's Stade Yves-Du-Manoir, would be postponed.

Glasgow Warriors tweeted: "BREAKING: Today's @ChampionsCup game against @racing92 has been postponed. We'll provide further updates when we get them."

Meanwhile, a statement on Racing 92's website read: "Racing  92 vs Glasgow match is cancelled today following the tragic events of last night. We expect more information about a possible rearrangement and will get back to you as soon as possible."

The Glasgow team had confirmed on Friday night that their players were safe in a hotel on the outskirts of Paris as they waited for developments.

"We're all safe in our team hotel on the outskirts of Paris," a team spokesman told Press Association Sport.

Glasgow coach Gregor Townsend tweeted: "Really sad to hear what's happening in this beautiful city. Hope all Warriors fans are safe tonight. Use #PorteOuverte if you need shelter."

The #PorteOuverte hashtag - and its translations in other languages - was being used on social media to alert those stranded by the attacks to safe areas and houses where Parisians were opening their doors to offer shelter.

Some games involving French teams are scheduled to go ahead as planned.

"After consultation with our friends of La Rochelle today's game continues as planned. We will of course mark the horrific events in Paris," Worcester Warriors tweeted.

They host La Rochelle at Sixways while Paris-based Stade Francais lost 33-20 to Leicester Tigers last night.

Oyonnax advised fans travelling to their game against Ulster to arrive early and avoid carrying backpacks, before they also confirmed they would be postponing the game.

The match between Bordeaux and Clermont was also postponed.

"Suite aux attentats parisiens, La rencontre face á l @UBBRugby comptant pour la 1er journée de @ChampionsCup_FR est reportée," ASM Rugby, Clermont's official Twitter account, said.

Nigel Owens, who was due to referee the Toulon-Bath game, said that the game has been cancelled before the two clubs confirmed that the match would not go ahead.

"Just been told Toulon v Bath game tomorrow has been called off. Heading home now from Heathrow," he said.

Soon after, European Rugby issued a statement saying that as France began a three-day period of mourning, no European games in the country would be going ahead, meaning the Pau v Castres match would also be postponed.

Other sports are also preparing to mark the events of Friday night. The English football league confirmed this morning that matches will go ahead after a minute of silence while jockeys at Cheltenham will wear black armbands and pay their respects before the meeting begins.
