World Cup winning South Africa international Pieter-Steph du Toit has confirmed that he will remain with Stormers after requesting for a contract termination earlier in the week.

The players in South Africa were given a deadline of 21 days to cancel their contract or face pay cuts following the financial crisis created by the pandemic coronavirus following which the club revealed that the 27-year-old made his intentions to exit the club with a possible move to Japan or Europe.

However, Stormers coach John Dobson in a statement released by the club on Thursday revealed that the World Rugby Player of the Year in 2019 will continue to be part of the club.

"Pieter-Steph is an important team member. His extraordinary work rate, coupled with his ball-carrying skills, makes our forward pack even more formidable," said Dobson.

"The rehabilitation on his [thigh] injury is progressing well and we are looking forward to seeing him in a Stormers jersey again when we get back on the field.

"We are proud as a union of our achievement of contracting eight Rugby World Cup-winning Springboks in the province and keeping them in the country."
