Stormers flanker Johan du Toit has been cited by the citing commissioner following his yellow-card incident in the recently concluded Super Rugby game against Sharks.

Du Toit was sin-binned in the opening minute of the game by referee AJ Jacobs for a tackle on Sharks scrum-half Louis Schreuder despite the TMO Willie Vos recommending a red card.

A statement released by SANZAAR read that the 24-year-old's act warranted a red-card following a breach of Law 9.17.

“Johan du Toit of the Stormers has been cited for alleged foul play during a Super Rugby match at the weekend.

“Du Toit is alleged to have contravened Law 9.17 during the match between the Sharks and Stormers at Jonnson Kings Park in Durban on 14 March 2020.

“Upon further review of the match footage, the Citing Commissioner deemed in his opinion the incident had met the Red Card threshold for foul play.”

Stormers currently hold the second position in South African Conference with four wins from six games.
