Leinster 23 - 17 Munster, Dublin

Johnny Sexton became the all-time leading point scorer for Leinster as they defeated Munster 23-17 in the Irish derby of Pro 14 in Dublin on Saturday.

Sexton went past Felipe Contepomi's tally of 1,225 points and is now positioned at the top with 1234 points for the Dublin team.

Rory O'Loughlin got the proceedings going for Leinster with a 16th minute try while Sexton added the conversion to take them to a 7-0 lead. Despite, a sin-bin to Niall Scannell for a deliberate knock-on, Ian Keatley helped Munster level the scores with a converted try.

Just at the stroke of half-time, O'Loughlin went past the line for the second time in the game and Sexton was once again spot on with the conversion as Leinster took a seven point lead at the end of the first half.

The Ireland international further extended Leinster's advantage with his first penalty at the start of the second half but Munster made a brief comeback with a touchdown from Keith Earls to bring down the gap to five points.

As the game was going even-steven, it was Sexton, who once again provided Leinster with a breathing space with a back to back penalties in the 51st and 54th minutes to complete a 23-17 win for the home side.
