Northampton Saints winger Ollie Sleightholme has signed a new contract, solidifying his future with the club where his rugby journey began.
The 24-year-old, who has become a key player for Saints and recently impressed on the international stage with England, expressed his excitement about staying at cinch Stadium at Franklin’s Gardens.
Sleightholme joined Northampton’s Academy at the age of 13 and made his senior debut in the Premiership Rugby Cup in 2018.
Since then, he has made 81 appearances for the club, scoring an impressive 47 tries. Known for his speed and try-scoring ability, Sleightholme has already crossed the line four times in five outings for Saints this season and three times in his last two games for England.
“Northampton is always where I’ve wanted to play, ever since I was little,” said Sleightholme. “It’s the dream of every kid playing rugby to represent their local club and to play for their country. Being able to continue this journey with Saints means everything to me.”
Sleightholme’s career highlights include winning the Gallagher Premiership trophy with Saints last season and earning the Premiership’s Top Try-Scorer Award.
His decisive try in the Premiership Final against Bath capped a stellar campaign, during which he scored 15 tries across all competitions. His performances have earned him a place in the Premiership Team of the Season and recognition at the international level, with a memorable England debut against New Zealand and two tries against Australia.
Sleightholme credited Saints’ coaching and support staff for his development, mentioning figures like Sam Vesty, Jake Sharp, and Lee Radford, as well as medical and conditioning experts who helped him stay at his best.
Saints’ Director of Rugby, Phil Dowson, praised Sleightholme’s commitment to the club and his growing influence.
