Northampton Saints wing Edoardo Todaro is set for a lengthy spell on the sidelines after suffering a torn cruciate ligament while on international duty with Italy.
The 19-year-old sustained the injury during a national team training camp, with medical tests confirming damage to the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee.
Todaro will now return to Northampton, where his rehabilitation will be managed by the club’s medical staff in coordination with Italy’s national team doctors.
He has been one of the standout young players of the season for Saints. He has scored 10 tries in 13 appearances after signing his first professional contract before the campaign began, despite missing two matches due to suspension for an aerial tackle.
His strong form earned him a call-up to Italy’s senior squad, and he made his international debut off the bench against Chile in November. Todaro had also been selected in Italy’s squad for the upcoming Six Nations.
