Northampton Saints have confirmed that forward Ed Prowse has signed a contract extension to remain at cinch Stadium at Franklin’s Gardens.

The 25-year-old is a product of the Saints Academy pathway and has rebuilt his career after being released at the age of 18.

Prowse gained valuable experience with Coventry, Kettering RFC and Loughborough University, while also featuring regularly for Northampton Wanderers before earning his first full-time Saints contract ahead of the 2020–21 season.

He made his senior debut against Newcastle in March 2022 and has since added seven further first-team appearances, while also making more than 50 outings for Saints’ partner club Bedford Blues.

Ahead of the 2024/25 campaign, he transitioned from tighthead prop to the second row, a move that proved pivotal in his development.

Standing at 6ft 4in and weighing 123kg, Prowse featured in 11 matches last season, including coming off the bench in the Investec Champions Cup final against Bordeaux Bègles.

He has built on that progress this term, appearing in 14 of Saints’ 18 games across all competitions so far.

“I absolutely love this place; it’s my boyhood club, so there wasn’t much of a decision to make about staying here – there’s nowhere else I’d rather be,” said Prowse.

“The environment here is unbelievable. Everything is set up to help people become better players, and better people too.”

“The 2024/25 season was the biggest of my career so far. It was a bit of a rollercoaster, ending with me playing in a Champions Cup final at lock, even though it began with me being told in preseason that my future wasn’t at tighthead prop".
