Edinburgh have confirmed that nine players will depart from the club at the end of the 2019/20 season.

The club had earlier confirmed that Matt Scott will move to Leicester Tigers after playing 20 times for the Scottish regional club and he will be joined by Scotland international John Barclay, who managed 14 appearances for the club in two seasons.

Dougie Fife, who rejoined Edinburgh after a stint with Scotland Sevens is also slated to part ways after making 125 appearances for them. Dougie Fife, who amassed 186 points in 34 games spread across two seasons also joins the departure list along with hooker Cammy Fenton and second-row duo Stan South and Sam Thomson.

Italian international prop Pietro Ceccarelli and stand-off Jason Baggott will also be leaving Edinburgh at the end of the ongoing season which has been disrupted by the coronavirus crisis.

“This period of the season is never easy for players – even more so in these unusual times – but all move on with our upmost respect for their hard work and commitment during their time at Edinburgh," said Cockerill in a statement released by the club.

“These guys all leave having given their all to the club and that’s all we can ever ask. It’s been a pleasure to coach them and we thank them for their professionalism and attitude.

“We wish all our leavers the best of luck in their future ambitions.”
