Newcastle Falcons have confirmed that Italy international Marco Fuser will join the club ahead of the 2020/21 season,

The Falcons will be returning back to the top tier Premiership competition after winning the Championship this season following 15 wins from as many games when the pandemic coronavirus brought an early end to the tournament.

Fuser, who has signed a two-year deal will join the likes of Argentina's Matias Orlando and England flanker Mark Wilson in new additions to the club with the latter joining after loan stint with Sale Sharks.

The 29-year-old played for Benetton between 2012 and 2020 and has made 119 appearances for the French side. He also featured in 33 Tests for Italy including a solitary appearance in the 2015 World Cup.

"Marco has performed at a consistently high level for the best part of a decade, and will help bring that edge to our forward pack," said Newcastle Falcons director of rugby Dean Richards to the official website of the club.

"He's a real grafter who just gets on with the basics, and those are precisely the guys you need in that engine room.

"He's a destructive tackler who enjoys the tighter aspects of the game, and it's one of those important building blocks for us as we look to make an impact on our Gallagher Premiership return."
