Newcastle Falcons 22-7 Bath Rugby, Kingston Park

Newcastle Falcons have maintained their unbeaten start in the ongoing Premiership Rugby Cup as they went on to beat Bath Rugby 22-7 at Kingston Park on Friday.

The win has taken the Falcons to the top of Pool 1 but Exeter Chiefs and Harlequins have a chance to displace them when they lock horns with each other in the weekend.

Michael Young and Joel Hodgson returned to the starting line-up of Newcastle after guiding the team to back to back wins in the European Champions Cup.

The first quarter saw both the teams struggle to score a point before Young crossed over in the 20th minute to get the Falcons off the mark and Hodgson kicked a conversion and a penalty to take the scoreline to 10-0 that remained the only points during the first half.

The home side further stretched their lead to 17 points after Simon Hammersley touched down in the 44th minute that was improved by Hodgson before Sinoti Sinoti with Newcastle's third try in the game made the scoreline 22-0.

Bath had a consolation try scored in the 76th minute through Josh Bayliss but it was Newcastle who went on to dominate the game with a 22-7 win.
