Australia skipper Michael Hooper is looking forward to the challenge against England as the two teams lock horns with each other at Twickenham Stadium on Saturday.

After losing all three games against New Zealand in the Bledisloe Cup, the Wallabies scripted a turnaround as they went on to complete a double over South Africa and Argentina in the final four rounds of the Rugby Championship in Queensland followed by a 32-23 win over Japan in Oita. They also registered a thrilling 2-1 series win over France at home earlier in the year during the July series.

Dave Rennie's side started their UK tour with a narrow 13-15 defeat to Scotland last weekend with Hamish Watson and Ewan Ashman scoring tries for the Dark Blues while Finn Russell kicked a conversion and a penalty apiece.

Despite the defeat, Hooper wants his side to take the confidence from their performance in the Queensland leg of the Rugby Championship.

"The motivation was about going really well [against Scotland] and continuing the momentum we've built in the last year, really," said Hooper.

Australia have not beaten England since the 2015 World Cup but Hooper played down any concern and is confident of his team's chances.

"We roll now into a six-day turnaround against the English. The record hasn't been great, but a lot of these guys haven't played up here, haven't been a part of those games, so don't feel that sort of stuff.

"It's a new team, it's a great challenge this week to roll into England."

"The fire in the belly hasn't [been] extinguished at all," he added. "After that it's just raised."
