Leicester Tigers have confirmed that England international Mathew Tait has signed a fresh contract with the Aviva Premiership club.

Tait joined the Welford Road outfit in 2011 and also has the experience of playing for Newcastle Falcons and Sale Sharks. The 31-year-old recently captained Leicester Tigers to Anglo-Welsh title victory.

He has represented England in 38 Tests between 2005 and 2010 and was also part of the 2007 Rugby World team that lost to South Africa in the final. He has also won a silver medal while representing England Sevens team in 2006 Common Wealth Games.

Leicester assistant coach Geordan Murphy is delighted with Tait extending his association with the club.

" We are delighted Mat has agreed to new contract terms. He has been in good form for us and he offers a great deal of experience and versatility in the squad.

"He understands the game very well and he is a good man to have in the camp."
