Worcester Warriors 39-5 Newcastle Falcons, Sixways

Worcester Warriors came up with a spirited performance as they defeated Newcastle Falcons 39-5 in the latest round of the Gallagher Premiership at Sixways on Saturday.

The result came a day after Worcester director of rugby Steve Diamond said this could be their last game at home ever amid the club is in the danger of going into administration following the financial woes.

The result has taken Worcester to 11th place in the table while Newcastle are languishing at the bottom after losing all the three matches.

Newcastle were the fastest to get off the block as hooker George McGuigan scored his fourth try of the season but Brett Connon missed out on the conversion. The response from Worcester came in the 16th minute as Alex Hearle dived under the posts with Billy Searle's conversion helped them take a 7-5.

The home side extended the lead further as Duhan van der Merwe caught a looping pass to touchdown but Searle's conversion went wide making it 12-5.

The Falcons were reduced to 14 players temporarily in the 28th minute as Cameron Nordli-Kelemeti was sent to sin-bin for not retreating at a quick tap penalty and Searle slotted a three-pointer to take them to a 15-5 lead at the end of the opening half.

After the third quarter went without a point, Searle landed another penalty goal to extend Worcester's lead to 13 points and in the 66th minute, Gareth Simpson collected an inside pass to score a converted try between the posts with Searle landing the extras to make it 25-5.

With 10 minutes left in the game, Matt Kvesic and Joe Batley scored further tries as Worcester completed a bonus point victory much to the rejoice of the home crowd.
