Leicester Tigers 36-21 Newcastle Falcons, Mattioli Woods Welford Road Stadium

Leicester Tigers came up with a five-try performance as they went past Newcastle Falcons 36-21 to secure their first win in the ongoing Gallagher Premiership.

The result at Mattioli Woods Welford Road Stadium meant Leicester now move to third place in the table while Newcastle are at 12th position after losing both their matches.

James Cronin straightaway made an impact as he scored the club's first home try of the season in the second minute and Jimmy Gopperth kicked the conversion to make it 7-0.

Nadolo extended the score after Porter had crated the opening in the seventh minute but the conversion from Gopperth went wide this time. The first response from the Falcons came in the 12th minute as Josh Barton capitalised on a pass from George Wacokecoke to score and Brett Connon kicked the extras to make it 12-7.

The visitors soon claimed the lead as George McGuigan burrowed his way over for their second try and a conversion from Gopperth made it 12-14. The home side moved into ascendancy before the break as Ben Youngs on his 200th Premiership appearance created the break for Nadolo's second and Chris Ashton followed the suit as they went into the break with a 26-14 lead.

Newcastle were the quickest to get off the block in the second as Mateo Carreras dived over and Connon improved to bring down the gap to five points. The Falcons thought they claimed the bonus point as Adam Radwan also went over but was denied after TMO found a forward pass in the build up.

As the game entered the final 10 minutes, a Gopperth penalty as they increased the gap to 29-21 before Charlie Clare helped Olly Cracknell to dot down as they secured their first win of the season.
