Exeter Chiefs 29-10 Leicester Tigers, Sandy Park

Exeter Chiefs continued their impressive home record as they defeated Leicester Tigers 29-10 in the latest round of the Gallagher Premiership at Sandy Park on Saturday.

The result also extended Exeter's unbeaten record at home to 23 matches as they rise to the fourth position in the Premiership table while Leicester Tigers have dropped to eighth position.

The Chiefs dominated the opening half as repeated infringements from the Tigers saw Jacques Vermeulen dive over from close range in the 6th minute and Henry Slade kicked the conversion.

The home side doubled their tally as TMO David Rose awarded a penalty try for the Chiefs with George Martin sent to sin-bin for making a tackle without the ball.

Even though the Tigers did well not to concede a point in Martin's absence, Rob Baxter's men scored 21 unanswered points in the opening half as Slade capitalised on a loose pass from Handre Pollard to dot down. The England international also kicked the conversion to make it 21-0.

Slade with an early penalty goal extended Exeter's lead to 24-0 before the first points for Leicester came in the 56th minute as a well timed pass from Solomone Kata allowed Anthony Watson to score but Pollard's conversion drifted wide.

The Tigers scored the second in the 70th minute as Kata assisted for the second time as Freddie Steward went over but this time Jamie Shillcock missed the extras as the scoreline remained at 17-10.

Any chance of a comeback from Leicester was put off with Rusi Tuima diving over for Exeter's third try in the closing stage to complete a 19-point victory.
