Ospreys have announced that head coach Toby Booth will be leaving the club at the end of the upcoming 2024/25 season.

Booth joined Ospreys ahead of 2020/21 season led the team to the play-offs in two competitions last season, including their first European play-off victory.

Prior to his association with the Welsh province, Booth has worked with London Irish as director of rugby and assistant coach of Harlequins. He was also Bath's head coach for seven years between 2012 and 2019.

I came here four years ago with a very definite project, and I’m leaving because it’s the right time and there’s a natural succession in place," said Booth to the club's official website.

"Sometimes it’s about timing, and I think the time is right for the group. I also think the time is right for me to move onto something a little different. I’ve got a lot of energy and excitement to do that.

"I’m immensely proud of the people and the individuals that are effectively my team.”

Following Booth's exit at the end of the upcoming season, Ospreys have revealed that defence coach Mark Jones will take in charge of the club with Justin Tipuric, who will end his playing career art the end of the 2024/25 campaign set to step up as defence coach.

“I am really excited about this opportunity. The privilege of coaching the Ospreys is not lost on me. Toby has been excellent at allowing me to develop in the role I’m currently in and giving me great autonomy.

"My dovetailing with Richard, Duncan, the S&C staff, the analytical staff, and the medical staff—those relationships have just grown. I’m excited to take those relationships forward and hopefully add to what has been a really good Ospreys tenure.”
