Former Wales Under-20 scrum-half Luc Jones has signed a short-term contract with the Aviva Premiership club Harlequins.

The deal which is learnt to be for three months is primarily to deal with the loss of Calum Waters, who injured his ankle while playing for the Quins. He will join the Twickenham Stoop outfit from Newport Gwent Dragons.

Harlequins rugby director John Kingston was delighted with Jones' signing.

"We are pleased to be able to bring in someone with Luc's ability for the next three months," said Kingston.

Harlequins are placed eighth in the Aviva Premiership table with three wins and as many defeats from six matches and Kingston admitted that England's autumn internationals will test the squad's depth.

"Following the unfortunate injury to Calum, it was important to secure the necessary depth at scrum-half ahead of a period of international unavailability," added Kingston.
