Worcester Warriors 23-8 London Irish, Sixways
Scorecard

Josh Adams scored two first-half tries as Worcester Warriors completed a 23-8 victory over London Irish in their Aviva Premiership encounter at Sixways on Friday.

Worcester showed two changes from the side beaten by Sale in league action three weeks ago as Gold handed starts to back-row pair David Denton and GJ van Velze. Irish, though, suffered two late injury blows, with centre Fergus Mulchrone and prop Ben Franks both being ruled out and replaced by Tom Fowlie and Gordon Reid, respectively, while flanker Mike Coman took over from Mulchrone as skipper.

Adams scored the first of his two tries in the fourth minute and Chris Pennell kicked a conversion to make it 7-0 but few minutes later they lost prop Nick Schonert to injury. Pennell soon kicked a penalty to put Worcester Warriors 10 points clear.

As the half time was approaching, the visitors finally managed to open the account with a penalty in the 33rd minute but he missed out on the extras on Alex Lewington's touchdown a few minutes later.

However, Adams' second try in the 40th minute put the Warriors in a position of comfort with a lead of 17-8 heading into the second half.

Pennell extended Worcester's lead by kicking two penalties in six minutes, and Irish had it all to do, with the Warriors beginning to create defensive gaps and Irish pressing a self-destruct button through poor discipline.

Worcester Warriors replacement Joe Taufete'e was sin-binned in the final minute but London Irish were unable to add any points in the second half as they succumbed to a 15 point defeat.

Worcester have now stretched their lead over bottom placed London Irish by 10 points.
