Leali'ifano Commits to Australian Rugby

Christian Leali'ifano has signed a new two-year contract with the Brumbies and committed himself to the Australian Rugby Union until 2016.

The 26-year-old's agreement follows the recent re-signings of team-mates Matt Toomua and Nic White as the ARU attempt to make sure all their top talent will be available for the World Cup next year.

"Christian has been a consistent performer at a provincial level for a long time now so it was pleasing to see him take the step up and make an impact for the Qantas Wallabies last year," Australia coach Ewen McKenzie said.

"A strong team culture is the glue for any team and in Christian's case I was personally impressed by the way he dealt with the adversity of injuries during his maiden Test campaign.

"He was one of 12 players to debut for Australia in 2013, and as we move forward it's not unreasonable to expect the core of that group to play a significant role in the future success of our national team.

"By re-signing, Christian has shown us that he wants to continue being part of that and I'm delighted he has chosen to continue his future in Australia beyond next year's Rugby World Cup."

Leali'ifano's commitment will also come as good news to the Brumbies, who currently sit top of the Australian conference as they attempt to go one better than last year's runners-up finish Super Rugby.

"The Brumbies have shown a lot of faith in me over the last five years and I'm pleased we have been able to sort everything out so I can stay," Lealiifano told the club's official website.
