Latest round of Premiership testing reveal 29 positive Covid-19 cases

Premiership Rugby has revealed that 29 positive Covid-19 cases were reported in the latest round of testing.

The results were from 2,410 tests conducted between 28th May and 3rd June.

Out of the 29, 23 were players while six were staff members that were from three clubs. The numbers are the highest since 33 cases were recorded in December last year.

Earlier, the Premiership game between Gloucester and Bath was cancelled following an outbreak of Covid-19 in the Cherry and Whites camp.

It was also the sixth game in this season of Premiership that was cancelled due to Covid-19 and the first since round 10 encounter between Worcester Warriors and Newcastle Falcons.

Sale Sharks' Manu Tuilagi missed his side's Premiership game against Harlequins after he was placed under isolation after coming in contact with a positively tested member staff.
