Rugby Australia and the Brumbies have announced that brothers Lachlan and Ryan Lonergan have signed a new contract until the end of 2025 season.

Lachlan made his professional rugby debut with Canberra Vikings in 2019 and managed his Super Rugby debut for Brumbies in 2020 against Chiefs. Overall, he has featured in 21 games for the Canberra based club apart from another four Test appearances for the Wallabies that came last year.

“I’m grateful to have this opportunity to stay at the Brumbies and in Australian rugby," he told Rugby Australia's website.

“Achieving some of my goals, like playing for the Wallabies in the first few years of my career has been great but I know I’ve got more work to do to continue to earn opportunities and I think the Brumbies and Australian rugby is the best place for me to do that.

“Obviously playing with Ryan and a bunch of boys I’ve come through the ranks with at Brumbies is awesome."

Meanwhile, Ryan has 36 Super Rugby caps since his Brumbies debut that came during the 2017 clash against Chiefs.

“I’m really pleased to have my future sorted and to know I’ll be playing my rugby here in Australia and at the Brumbies," said Ryan.

“Playing for the team I supported growing up and coming into work every day with Noss (Lachlan) and a great bunch of boys is a dream come true and something I’m very grateful for.

“I’m excited about the direction of the club and it’s great so now that I can just focus on my rugby and hopefully push for more opportunities at the Brumbies and with the Wallabies.”
