Australia lock Kane Douglas is set to make a comeback from a knee injury after he was named on the bench for the Queensland Reds in the Super Rugby clash against the Brumbies on Friday.

Douglas played a crucial role in Australia's 2015 World Cup campaign where he sustained the injury during the defeat in the final to All Blacks at Twickenham following which he underwent a surgery in November.

The New South Wales born lock became eligible to play for the Wallabies after he was released early by Ireland based club Leinster and signed a deal with Reds but was sidelined for most part of the Super Rugby season.

The news will provide a big boost to the Wallabies coach Michael Cheika, who struggled with an unsettled second row combination during the 3-0 defeat against England in the recently concluded series.

Meanwhile, Rob Simmons will be missing the clash against Brumbies after sustaining a knee injury during the third Test against England in Sydney while Leroy Houston is in line to play his first Super Rugby game in five years after he was named among the replacements for the Friday's encounter.

The Reds are placed ninth in the Australasian Group after managing 16 points from 12 games.
