Josh Macleod will continue as captain of the Scarlets for the 2025-26 season, marking his third year in the role.
He was first appointed skipper in 2023 and has since become a key leader for the squad.
Born in Monte Carlo but raised in Pembrokeshire, Macleod began his rugby journey with Crymych RFC before progressing through the Scarlets academy.
He made his senior debut more than a decade ago and has since played over 136 matches for the region. He was also part of the squad that lifted the PRO12 title in 2017.
Macleod’s strong performances last season earned him a recall to the Wales national team for the July Tests against Japan. His influence was crucial in helping Scarlets reach the United Rugby Championship play-offs and qualify for the Champions Cup.
Speaking about his reappointment, Macleod said he is honoured to continue leading the side. He stressed the importance of maintaining momentum, competing in every game, and rewarding Scarlets supporters.
“It is always a huge honour to be following in the footsteps of some Scarlets legends who have captained this club and it is a privilege to be asked to continue in the role for the coming season.
“As a squad we felt we made significant progress last season, reaching the URC play-offs and qualifying for the Champions Cup. Our aim was to compete in every game and we did that.
“The message going into this new campaign has been clear – we want to maintain that momentum and keep building. We loved being part of the knockout stages and want a taste of that again.
“As captain, I am fortunate to have a group of senior players who are constantly driving standards on and off the field and a great group of youngsters who are always willing to learn and develop."
