Saracens have confirmed that lock Joel Kpoku has signed a new contract with the Gallagher Premiership until 2022.

He started his career with rugby league side London Skolars and joined Saracens Junior Academy in 2015.

The 20-year-old's senior debut for Saracens came in the Premiership Rugby Cup in 2018 and played a pivotal role in the club winning the Premiership Rugby Shield in 2018/19 season.

Kpoku was also shortlisted for Premiership Rugby Cup breakthrough player of the year award in February 2019 and has also played 14 Premiership games for Saracens in which he scored a solitary try.

“I’m over the moon to re-sign at such a great club,” he said. “The group of players that are at this club are really special.

“Coming through the Junior Academy with a few of the boys, we’ve come a long way and it was non-negotiable for me to want stay around and push on.

“Next year will be a really good challenge for us, especially the younger guys. It’s about staying together and hopefully we’ll do a good job.”
