Scorecard

Winger Emiliano Boffelli scored a double while Nicholas Sanchez contributed with 13 points as Jaguares resisted a late fightback from Waratahs to win their Super Rugby encounter 38-28 at Estadio Jose Amalfitani.

Boffelli started the proceedings with a first minute try and nine minutes later he scored his second as Jaguares got off to a blistering start.

The lead soon became 21-0 when fullback Joaquin Tuculet crossed over in the 15th minute and Sanchez, who kicked all the three conversions touched down in the 18th minute to make it 26-0 in favour of the hosts at the end of the first quarter.

The response from Waratahs came in the 34th minute with a try from number eight Jed Holloway but his efforts were negated by Bautista Delguy as Jaguares maintained their 26 point lead heading into the break.

Waratahs managed to reduce the gap down to 19 points with a 46th minute try from Curtis Rona and as the final 10 minutes kicked-off, Matias Orlando dived past the line for Jaguares to increase the lead to 24 points.

A late surge from Waratahs saw Nick Palmer and Israel Folau scoring back to back tries in the final two minutes with Bernard Foley slotting the conversions but that could not prevent them from losing the game by 10 points.
