South Africa head coach Jacques Nienaber wants his side to improve further as they head to France for the Rugby World Cup title defence next month.

The Boks sealed a 52-16 win against a weakened Wales side in the previous warm-up game in Cardiff riding on a double from Canan Moodie and Jesse Kriel. Despite the 36-point victory, Nienaber felt there is still score for improvement.

“We have to get better for France. We are on a tough side of the draw and have to be up for it from game one. That is what we are trying to do.

“We have to get better more cohesive before we play Scotland, that's our most important game".

The Boks ran seven tries and were also aided by a penalty try that came following a sin-bin to Rio Dyer but Nineaber rued the missed opportunities which could have stretched their winning margin further.

“We left four or five opportunities out there. In the RWC you have to seize those moments. Our discipline let us down early in the second half. But then Pieter-Steph (du Toit) intercepted".

Meanwhile, Moodie, who starred with a double in the game said the side can gain a lot of confidence from the victory in Cardiff.

“For me it was about making the most of the opportunity. We have a lot of competition for places. I just wanted them to make the most of it.

“We can definitely take a lot of confidence out of putting a record score on Wales in Wales. It not something that just happens. Our plans are working and the guys are ready mentally and physically.”
