Argentina name four debutants for Springboks clash

Argentina have named four uncapped players in their matchday squad for Saturday’s Test against world champions South Africa at the José Amalfitani Stadium in Buenos Aires.

Pablo Matera will captain a much-changed Pumas side as they prepare to challenge an unbeaten Springboks team.

Argentina Name Four Potential Debutants

Francisco Moreno will make his Test debut after being selected at tighthead prop. The Universitario de Tucumán forward packs down alongside hooker Ignacio Ruiz and loosehead prop Boris Wenger.

Three more uncapped players have been named among the replacements. Hooker Leonel Oviedo and loose forwards Juan Penoucos and Juan Martín Scelzo could make their international debuts from the bench.

Matera Leads New-Look Pumas Side

Experienced flanker Matera captains Argentina from the blindside, joining Benjamín Grondona and Joaquín Moro in the back row.

Santiago Carreras starts at fly-half alongside scrum-half Simón Benítez Cruz. Lucio Cinti and Faustino Sánchez Valarolo form the midfield partnership, while Rodrigo Isgró and Ignacio Mendy start on the wings.

Gerónimo Prisciantelli completes the back three at full-back.

Springboks Arrive Unbeaten in Buenos Aires

South Africa head into the fixture after winning their opening three Nations Championship matches against England, Scotland and Wales.

Saturday’s contest also carries historical significance for Argentina, marking 40 years since Los Pumas first played at the José Amalfitani Stadium.
