Wales have confirmed that Dan Biggar and Liam Williams have been withdrawn from the upcoming warm-up game against South Africa due to injury concerns.

Williams is set to have sustained a hamstring injury while Biggar is suffering from a back irritation with the Welsh Rugby Union revealing that the duo are pulled out of the weekend's encounter as a precautionary measure.

Cai Evans gets promotion from the bench and is set to make his Test debut in the place of Williams while Sam Costelow replaces Biggar at fly-half. Scarlets back Tom Rogers takes Evans' place on the bench.

"Preparations have gone well. We are really pleased with the whole squad. We are trying to build some depth within the team, and there has been a great atmosphere," said Gatland.

"In the first couple of games what was really pleasing for me was the physicality we brought and the way we defended. There are still things for us to work on in terms of being much more accurate.

"There has been a lot of learning from that second England game, and hopefully we put that into practice against South Africa. There is another opportunity for this group of 23 players to put their hand up before we select the World Cup squad."
