Italy will be without Ange Capuozzo for the remainder of the Six Nations after the full-back sustained a shoulder injury in the defeat to France.

Ange Capuozzo Injury Six Nations Blow

The Italian Rugby Federation confirmed that Capuozzo suffered a serious shoulder injury during Italy’s 33-8 loss to France in Lille. The 26-year-old scored Italy’s only try of the match but was forced off around 10 minutes from time after a heavy tackle.

Medical assessments carried out following the game confirmed the extent of the injury, ruling him out of Italy’s remaining fixtures in the championship.

Italy Squad Impact For England And Wales Matches

Capuozzo will miss Italy’s final two Six Nations matches, with England due to visit Rome before a concluding trip to face Wales in Cardiff.

His absence represents a significant setback for Italy, with the Toulouse back having been one of their key attacking threats. In the closing stages against France, Italy were further reduced in numbers following a yellow card, compounding the challenge.

Toulouse Champions Cup Concerns

The injury also casts doubt over Capuozzo’s availability for Toulouse’s upcoming Champions Cup knockout fixtures. The French club are scheduled to compete in the round of 16 in early April, with a potential quarter-final the following week.

Sunday’s appearance had been Capuozzo’s first since late December after recovering from a finger injury, making the latest setback particularly frustrating for both club and country.
