Australia fullback Israel Folau insisted that he will not change his approach of being aggressive during the upcoming Rugby Championship opening game against New Zealand in Sydney on Saturday.

The 29-year-old was slammed with a one-game ban after making contact in the air with Peter O'Mahony in Australia’s third Test defeat against Ireland during the June series and now will take on the All Blacks, who are an aggressive team themselves.

Folau said the ban will not change his mindset and added that he will attack the ball at every possible opportunity to help his team gain control.

"I believe my technique is fair play and I'll attack the ball at every opportunity I get to try to win possession for the team," he said.

"That mindset won't change."

Australia last won the Bledisloe Cup in 2002 but Folau believes the gap between the two teams is narrowing and cited the Wallabies' 23-18 win over All Blacks in October last year as a confidence booster as they head into the Saturday's clash.

"Last year we really built a good foundation within our team, we came so close in the second game and managed to get the win in the third one," he said.

"It was a good finish, but was a just a taste of the potential the team can fulfil."
