Gloucester Rugby have confirmed the signing of prop Jamal Ford-Robinson from Premiership rivals Northampton Saints ahead of the next season.

A product of Leicester Academy, the 25-year-old made his senior debut with Cambridge Rugby Union Football Club before moving to Cornish Pirates in 2014. He also enjoyed a brief two-year stint with Bristol Rugby and switched to Northampton Saints in 2017 making 23 appearances for the Franklin's Gardens outfit since then.

“Having strength in depth in all positions throughout the squad is vital for any team to be successful. And it’s important that we have a group of props who are all capable of performing at the highest level," Director of Rugby David Humphreys told in a statement released by the club.

“Jamal certainly meets those requirements. He’s a proven force at Premiership level and has been involved with the England set-up in the past. As well as being strong in the set-piece, he’s also mobile and good with ball in hand which will suit the way we like to play the game.

“His arrival will complement our existing front row forwards, and we’re happy with how that area of the squad is shaping up for next season as they will all have a role to play.”

Ford-Robinson was called up to the England squad that defeated Barbarians at Twickenham Stadium on May 2017 and was part of the squad that toured Argentina in the subsequent summer tour.
