Wales international George North is set to leave Ospreys for a Pro D2 side according to a report.

North started his career with Scarlets in 2010 and also played for Northampton Saints before joining Ospreys in 2018.

He is now set to join the footsteps of former Wales skipper Alun Wyn Jones to leave the Welsh province with French outlet Sud Ouest reporting that he has agreed a contract of £26,000 per month with Provence Rugby.

North has 118 Test caps to his name having made his Wales debut in 2010 and was part of the British and Irish Lions squads in 2013 and 2017 tours representing them in three games.

Earlier last week, Ospreys coach Toby Booth expressed concerns about the reduction in budget which could see them lose high profile players.

"We understand with good players that people will be interested," said Booth.

"The Welsh market will be of interest to big-spending teams because they know we can't afford to keep big players on big salaries.

"We have a budget of £5.2m this season and that is going down to £4.5m next season so every region is still staring down the barrel of a gun and I don't think this will be the last of it either."
