France have been dealt with injury blows during the ongoing Rugby World Cup with full-back Thomas Ramos and hooker Peato Mauvaka to miss the remainder of the tournament with injuries.

Ramos suffered an ankle injury during their recent 33-9 win over the United States of America at Fukuoka Hakatanomori Stadium where he left the field in the 57th minute.

Meanwhile, Mauvaka had discomfort leading to the game against the USA and underwent a scan that revealed hip muscle strain.

"It's a handicap for us," said head coach Jacques Brunel.

"We hope that in the next match nothing will happen. We will try to get them to come as soon as possible."

Brunel has named Vincent Rattez and Christopher Tolofua as replacements for Ramos and Mauvaka respectively for the rest of the tournament.

Fullback Rattez has played two teams with both of it coming in 2017 while Mauvaka played a solitary Test that came during the World Cup warm-up game against Scotland in August.

France currently are at the second place in Pool C with nine points and will face Tonga and England in the remainder of the opening round fixtures on 6th and 12th October respectively.
