Canada Women 17-19 England Women, Chula Vista Elite Athlete Training Center

England Women came from behind to edge out Canada Women at Chula Vista Elite Athlete Training Center as they maintained their perfect record in the ongoing Women's Super Series.

The opening 22 minutes in the game saw neither team score a point before Tyson Beukeboom touched down to take Canada to a five point lead with Brianna Miller missing the conversion. That remained the only points in a low-scoring first half with Canada heading into the break with a slender 5-0 lead.

Canada suffered a setback early in the second half with flanker Gabrielle Senft yellow-carded for an off the ball incident but despite that Paige Farries touched down to make the scoreline 12-0.

England finally broke the shackles with a penalty try in the 48th minute by referee Amy Perrett after Canada illegally halted the charge from a resulting scrum and Kelly Smith followed the suit with a 51st minute touchdown.

The momentum once again shifted towards Canada with Paige Farries dotting down in the 56th minute making the scoreline 17-14 and England's chances took a beating with Abbie Scott's sin-bin in the 59th minute. However, Canada did not manage a breakthrough despite numerical advantage.

Just as the end time was approaching, Canada lost Kaljuvee with seven minutes left in the game and that's when Sarah Hunter went over the line to bring England to a two point. In a thrilling final five minutes, Emily Scarratt missed the conversion for England and that provided Canada with a chance but Sophie de Goede missed a penalty kick as Canada suffered a two point defeat.
