England U20 hooker Alfie Barbeary has been suspended for five weeks following his red-card incident during the recently concluded World Rugby U20 Championship encounter against Ireland at Club De Rugby Ateneo Inmaculada.

Barbeary was sent-off in the 67th minute for a dangerous tackle on Ireland’s John Hodnett and his absence proved costly for England as they succumbed to a 26-42 defeat.

As a result, the England substitute hooker will miss the remainder of the World Rugby U20 Championship campaign and also the opening week of the 2019/20 Premiership season.

England are currently at the third position in Pool B and will take on Italy in the second round of the tournament in Santa Fe on Saturday.
