England international Ben Youngs has been ruled out of the remainder of the ongoing Six Nations campaign following a knee injury.

The 28-year-old was replaced in the ninth minute during the opening game against Italy and underwent a scan on Monday that revealed a rupture of the medial collateral ligament in his left knee.

According to reports, Youngs will be assessed in the coming weeks but is expected to be on the sidelines for up to four months.

Saracens scrum-half Richard Wigglesworth has replaced Youngs in the squad while Wasps number eight Nathan Hughes is also included in the 32-man squad ahead of the game against Wales to be played at Twickenham Stadium on Saturday.

Wigglesworth has already played 27 Tests for England but his last appearance came during October 2015 in the World Cup game against Uruguay.

England are currently at the top of the table following a 15-46 bonus point victory over Italy in the opening round at Stadio Olimpico.
