Wasps centre Elliot Daly is in line to feature in England's starting line-up in the Old Mutual Wealth Cup opener against South Africa on Saturday at the expense of Jonathan Joseph.
According to a report in Press Association Sport, the 24-year-old is set to be make his first start for the England team, pairing up with Owen Farrell at midfield.
Joseph, who was a part of the starting XV for England in all the games under head coach Eddie Jones has been struggling with a groin injury. However, England scrum coach Neal Hatley confirmed that Joseph has been training well.
"Jonathan trained on Tuesday and will be able to train on Thursday as well," Hatley said.
If Joseph is declared fit for the Saturday's game, he is likely to be named on the bench along with Danny Care which will also be the first time since 2015 the Bath centre will miss out on the starting XV.
Earlier, during the Six Nations 2016 tournament, Jones had insisted that Daly was not yet ready for international rugby but an injury to Ollie Devoto saw the former England Under-20 make his debut for the red rose team off the bench against Ireland.
In case Daly makes it to the starting XV this will be the sixth change for England since their last game in Australia with Jonny May and Marland Yarde set to replace Anthony Watson and Jack Nowell after the duo suffered a jaw and an ankle injury respectively.
Joe Launchbury and Courtney Lawes will take the places of the injured pair George Kruis and Maro Itoje while Tom Wood has been given his first start for England under Jones.
