Veteran flanker Dan Lydiate has officially announced his retirement from professional rugby, bringing to a close a remarkable career that spanned over 15 years at the highest levels of the sport.

Known for his uncompromising tackling and tireless work rate, Lydiate earned 69 caps for Wales, playing a pivotal role in multiple Six Nations campaigns, including the 2012 Grand Slam.

His international prowess was further recognized with selection for the 2013 British & Irish Lions tour to Australia, where he featured prominently in the series victory.

At the club level, Lydiate's career included significant stints with the Dragons, Racing 92 in France, and the Ospreys. He returned to the Dragons in 2023, bringing experience and leadership to the squad.

Reflecting on his career, Lydiate expressed gratitude for the opportunities rugby provided:
