Dragons Rugby have confirmed that prop Aki Seiuli has departed the club to join the Utah Warriors in Major League Rugby (MLR).
Seiuli, a key figure in the Dragons' front row, will continue his professional career in the United States.
Seiuli, 31, has been a reliable presence in the Dragons' pack since joining the Welsh side in 2020 from Glasgow Warriors.
Known for his scrummaging power and mobility around the park, the Samoan international has made significant contributions during his time at Rodney Parade.
Speaking about Seiuli's departure, Dragons Director of Rugby Dai Flanagan praised the prop for his impact both on and off the field.
“Aki has been a valued member of our squad and a leader within our pack. His contributions to the team have been immense, and we wish him every success in the next chapter of his career,” Flanagan said.
Seiuli joins the Utah Warriors, a prominent team in the rapidly growing Major League Rugby competition in North America. The move marks an exciting new chapter for the experienced front-rower, who brings a wealth of international and club rugby experience to the Warriors.
Utah Warriors Head Coach Greg Cooper expressed his enthusiasm about the signing.
“Aki’s physicality, professionalism, and experience will be a massive asset to our squad as we push for success in the upcoming MLR season,” Cooper stated.
