All Blacks playmaker Damian McKenzie has turned down overseas interest to re-sign with New Zealand Rugby and the Chiefs until the end of 2029.
The 29-year-old fly-half’s new four-year deal ensures his continued presence in both Super Rugby Pacific and on the international stage, bolstering the All Blacks' plans for the years ahead.
McKenzie, known for his electric pace, tactical kicking, and sharp attacking instincts, has been a key figure in New Zealand rugby since debuting for the All Blacks in 2016.
With 61 Test caps, he has consistently delivered match-winning performances and remains one of the most versatile backs in the game.
In 2024, McKenzie played in 14 Tests, starting 10 of them, confirming his status as a cornerstone of the All Blacks' evolving squad.
His new deal aligns with the All Blacks’ roadmap through the 2027 Rugby World Cup and includes availability for the high-profile 2029 British & Irish Lions tour of New Zealand.
"Damian is such a valuable member of our group. He has an incredible skill set and the ability to change a game. He is just continuing to get better and better, which makes him a critical signing for us heading into the next Rugby World Cup and beyond."
\At Super Rugby level, McKenzie has been one of the standout performers in the 2025 season, leading the competition in points after the first seven rounds and guiding the Chiefs to second place on the table.
His continued presence is expected to play a pivotal role in the club's championship ambitions.
"I'm incredibly excited to re-sign with NZ Rugby and continue my journey with both the Chiefs and All Blacks. The opportunity to represent both teams is something that I'll never take for granted. I feel like I've still got a lot to give to New Zealand rugby and look forward to adding value where I can."
