Chris Harris will return to Newcastle Red Bulls next season, with the Scotland and British and Irish Lions centre rejoining the club where he made his professional breakthrough.
The move marks a major homecoming for one of the North East’s most accomplished rugby exports as Newcastle continue building for the future.

The Carlisle-born centre made 104 appearances during his first spell with Newcastle before leaving for Gloucester in 2019. Since then, Harris has added further weight to his reputation through consistent performances in the PREM and on the international stage.
After more than 100 appearances for Gloucester, he joined Bath Rugby last summer and now prepares to head back to Kingston Park for the next phase of his career.

The 35-year-old has earned 47 caps for Scotland and also became a Test starter for the British and Irish Lions on the 2021 tour of South Africa.
Before making his Newcastle debut in 2014 at the age of 23, Harris played for Carlisle, Northumbria University and Tynedale. That background has made his journey back to Newcastle especially significant.

Harris said the move felt like a full-circle moment and described Newcastle as home. He added that he is looking forward to bringing experience on and off the field while helping shape an exciting new group of players.
