Cardiff Blues have signed Scarlets fly-half Steve Shingler ahead of next season.

The 24-year-old, who can also operate at centre and full-back, moves to the BT Sport Cardiff Arms Park on what the Blues say is a "long-term contract".

The move reunites Shingler with Blues head coach Danny Wilson, who was previously forwards coach at the Scarlets.

"Danny Wilson is assembling a great squad, recruiting strongly and I hope I can play my part and help the region achieve its long-term aspirations," Shingler told the Blues' official website.

Shingler, a Wales Under-20 international, is currently in his second spell at the Scarlets having spent two seasons at London Irish between 2011 and 2013.

"Steve is someone I have worked with in the past and I know what a quality player he is," Wilson said.

"His goal kicking and kicking in general play is very strong and he has a lot of experience from operating at fly-half and centre in both the Guinness PRO12 and English Premiership."
