Bulls have finished at the top of the South African Conference at the end of the opening round as they trounced Stormers 40-3 in their Super Rugby clash at Loftus Versfeld.

Rosko Speckman made an impact in his first ever Super Rugby game after he made a pass from Jesse Kriel count for the opening try in the fourth minute while Handre Pollard kicked the conversion. The response from Stormers came through a penalty goal from SP Marais in the 11th minute.

Bulls soon doubled their tally when Warrick Gelant made a swift pass from left to Speckman for his second try in the 19th minute and the home side got their third in the 24th minute when Kriel found John-Ben Kotze. Pollard kicked both the conversions as they raced to 21 points in the first half.

Kriel, who played a pivotal role in the first half got his name in the scoring sheet with a touchdown in the 45th minute while Pollard kicked a solitary conversion and slotted four more penalties to complete a 40-3 victory.
