Highlanders have confirmed that fly-half Bryn Gatland will join the Super Rugby club for the next two seasons.

The decision follows after New Zealand international Lima Sopoaga, who has been with the Highlanders since 2011 is set to move to Premiership club Wasps next season.

Gatland joined Auckland Blues in 2017 and has also made a solitary appearance for New Zealand Barbarians in 2014.

Apart from Gatland, Marino Mikaele-Tu'u will also remain with the club for the 2019 and 2020 seasons after having already featured for the Dunedin based outfit in the ongoing season as an injury replacement and Fiji born wing Tevita Nabura has also committed to the club for the 2019 season.

Highlanders CEO Roger Clark is delighted with young talents committing to the club.

“These guys have already shown a lot of potential at Super Rugby level this season we are confident that the more time they spend in our programme the more their game will grow. All three are great prospects for the future.” said Clark.

Highlanders are currently positioned third in New Zealand Conference with six wins from nine games and set to face Lions next on 12th May at Forsyth Barr Stadium.
