Sale Sharks flanker Ben Curry has been voted as the Gallagher Player of the Month for December, securing 35.3% of the public poll.
He edged out strong competition from Bath Rugby flanker Ted Hill and Bristol Bears centres Benhard Janse van Rensburg and Kalaveti Ravouvou.
Curry’s standout performances were pivotal in guiding Sale Sharks to the top four of the Gallagher Premiership Rugby table as the 2024 season drew to a close.
Notably, the 26-year-old delivered an exceptional display in Sharks’ first away win of the campaign—a commanding 38-0 victory over Bristol Bears. In this match, Curry registered an impressive 22 tackles and two turnovers, showcasing his defensive prowess and leadership on the field.
Sale Sharks enjoyed an outstanding December, winning all three of their Premiership matches and one of their two European fixtures. Curry's contributions throughout the month solidified his reputation as one of the league’s premier flankers.
Isaac Pollitt, Account Executive at Gallagher, praised Curry for his efforts, stating: "It’s a pleasure to present the Gallagher Player of the Month trophy to Ben.
"He has been brilliant during the season so far and central to some key moments on the pitch. Ben clearly played an instrumental part in Sale Sharks’ victory against Bristol Bears recently and the signs look very promising as the season progresses."
Curry is the first non-Bristol Bears player to win the prestigious award this season. Previous winners include Max Malins and Gabriel Ibitoye, who claimed the titles for September and October, respectively.
