Bath Rugby have announced that skipper Ben Spencer has signed a contract extension with the club.

Spencer joined Bath Rugby in 2020 from Saracens and has become an integral part of the club since then.

The 30-year-old started his rugby career with Cambridge in 2010 but has been associated with Saracens since 2011 making over 170 appearances.

He enjoyed three Premiership titles and two Champions Cup victories with the Sarries and his success at the domestic level earned him a England call-up in 2018 where he made his debut during the summer series against the Springboks.

Spencer has played four Tests for England till date including a solitary appearance in the World Cup in Japan last year that came in the final against South Africa which the red rose team went on to lose 12-32.

“My family and I have loved our time at Bath to date and we are really looking forward to the future," he told the club's official website.

“The direction the club and Johann have committed to is incredibly exciting. We have a group of players here who are determined to succeed and achieve great things.

“We will continue to work hard to progress each week as we strive towards those goals, but I believe the future is bright and it’s something I want to be part of.”
