Bath Rugby have announced that England international Sam Underhill has penned a new deal with the Gallagher Premiership club.

The 26-year-old will follow the likes of Alfie Barbeary, Josh Bayliss, Chris Cloete, Jaco Coetzee, Ted Hill and Miles Reid in recommitting their future to the club in recent times.

Underhill joined Bath Rugby in 2017 and has featured in more than 50 appearances for the club. He also played a pivotal role in the club reaching the play-off of the 2019/20 season.

Having made his England debut against Argentina in 2017, Underhill has represented them in 29 Tests and was a member of the squad that competed in the final of the 2019 World Cup.

“I have learned an incredible amount over the past five years at Bath and I’m thoroughly looking forward to seeing where I can take my game with the group of staff and players we have here," he told the club's official website.

“I want to contribute to a successful Bath side, and I know everyone is pulling in the same direction to help the club achieve great things in the seasons to come.”

Bath Head of Rugby Johann van Graan is delighted with Underhill extending his stay with the club.

“Sam has proved his quality at international and club level for a number of years,” van Graan said.

“He is a leader, has fantastic defensive qualities and still has a great desire to develop his game. Sam complements the other back row players who will be with us next season and we are excited by the impact he will continue to have on the group.”
