Saracens have confirmed the signing of back-row forward Alfie Barbeary ahead of the 2026/27 season, with the former Bath Rugby player set to begin a new chapter in North London.
Alfie Barbeary To Join Saracens From Bath
Barbeary will make the move from Bath Rugby after establishing himself as one of the Prem's most dynamic forwards. The 25-year-old began his senior career at Wasps, initially emerging as a hooker before developing into a powerful and versatile back-row option.
After Wasps went into administration, Barbeary joined Bath and continued his transition into the loose forwards. His performances there strengthened his reputation as a strong ball carrier with a sharp eye for the try line and the ability to influence matches in both domestic and European competition.
Saracens Add Premiership-Proven Back-Row Depth
The move gives Saracens an experienced forward with top-level Prem exposure and England A recognition. Barbeary has been regarded as one of the more explosive forwards in English rugby, capable of covering multiple back-row roles.
“Saracens have always been a top club and I am looking forward to a new challenge in North London," said Barbeary.
"They have consistently been challenging for silverware and that is something I am very motivated to help them achieve.”
Saracens director of rugby Mark McCall is delighted with the signing of Barbeary.
“Alfie is a highly talented young player who we are delighted to welcome to the club.
"His attributes and character will complement and add value to the group and we are looking forward to him realising his potential in the years ahead.”
