Scotland international prop Zander Fagerson has committed his future to Glasgow Warriors by signing a new multi-year contract, extending his stay at Scotstoun until at least 2027.

The 28-year-old tighthead has been a key figure in the squad since making his debut in 2014, and the extension comes as a major boost to the club’s forward pack.

Fagerson, who recently marked his 150th appearance for Glasgow, shared his enthusiasm about the new deal and the environment within the team.

“Weighing up all the options, it was clear very quickly that Glasgow was definitely the standout choice for both myself and my family,” he said.

“I love being part of this group and coming to work with my mates every day. We’re all trying to drive each other forward and make each other better on and off the field.

"That’s definitely the mantra of this squad, and this is the best place for me to continue my rugby journey.”

The new contract is a reflection of both Fagerson’s personal performance and the broader success of the club. He played every minute of the Warriors’ triumphant 2023/24 BKT United Rugby Championship campaign, including their historic final victory over the Vodacom Bulls in Pretoria.

Head Coach Franco Smith praised the importance of Fagerson’s continued presence, both as a player and a person.

“Zander is a world-class operator in the front-row, and we are extremely pleased to retain a player of his calibre for the coming seasons,” Smith said.

“He is one of the top tight-heads in world rugby, with his quality at the set-piece and dynamism with ball in hand clear for everyone to see. Moreover, he is a true family man and a person who embodies what it means to be a Warrior.”

Fagerson’s re-signing aligns with a wave of contract renewals at Glasgow, with other Scotland internationals such as Sione Tuipulotu, Kyle Steyn, and Stafford McDowall also reaffirming their commitments to the club.

Looking ahead, Fagerson expressed his hunger for more growth and achievements: “There are definitely more levels to reach, for both myself and for this group, and I’m excited to get started again next season and push to reach those levels.”
